You know what most kills me about the comments on that BuzzFeed article? When a woman trivialises domestic violence by joking that she wouldn’t mind getting beaten up by a man she’s attracted to you can’t move or breathe for people calling her a “stupid bitch”, blaming her for the downfall of society, etc. — but when a man makes the exact same joke by saying that he wishes that woman would get beaten up and someone calls him out on it? You can’t move or breathe for the exact same people (and then some) defending it, calling people who didn’t think it was funny ‘humourless’, talking about how the woman ‘deserves’ it, etc.

Fucked up, you guys.

I feel like I’m both angry at these people for their comments and yet at the same time upset at a lot of the reaction to their commentary. What I hate most about the entire thing is that the issue here is turning into ‘look at what these silly women said on twitter’ instead of look at what a horrible thing Chris Brown did and look at how problematic it is that the societal norm is to let domestic violence be swept under the rug.

Yep.
