Also, also, also, can we please stop with the disingenuous bullshit about whose property that laptop was or wasn’t. IT DOESN’T FUCKING MATTER who paid for it. That is not the point. That is so completely not the point and focusing on that to defend someone firing a loaded weapon just to make a statement is a pretty mindblowing example of derailing. He wasn’t defending someone’s life.  He wasn’t practicing his aim at the shooting range.  He’s not a goddamned law enforcement officer chasing down an armed and dangerous suspect.  Outside of those three contexts, his decision to aim and fire a loaded firearm to intimidate his daughter into silence IS NOT OKAY. Stop saying that it is.  Stop trying to see “the other side” of the situation. Sometimes? Behavior is indefensible. This is one of those times.

ETA: One other thing, since so many people have taken complete leave of any capacity for logical, thoughtful consideration in this? You can’t decry that girl as a “spoiled rotten brat” who got what she deserved while simultaneously praising her parent for engaging in abusive behavior designed to humiliate her.  ’Cause assuming that her being “spoiled” is in any way relevant to his mistreatment of her? She didn’t get that way in a vacuum.
