Her dad didn’t hack her facebook though and while I completely understand everything that you’re saying, parents are human. You do everything for your kid; you, like he said, give her the top technology and software for her laptop, spending thousands of dollars on it and then she goes behind your back and says that shit? You snap, basically. And if he’s the one who paid thousands to get her laptop together, it’s not really hers anymore.

I’ve done that to my dad and felt so guilty about it because he does so much shit to provide for me and here I am complaining that I have to do chores. Of course, kids should have freedom of speech, but if I was a parent and I did all this for my kid and they still went out of their to basically make me seem like a tyrant to their friends, I would be mad. Who wouldn’t?

BTW, in my family and in the family of a lot of Caribbean folk that I know, if this happened, no one would bat an eyelash. I think that’s maybe why I  might be biased, but there comes a time where you can’t talk to your kid any more because they’re not afraid of the consequences so what else are you supposed to do?

Okay.

You need to stop apologising for this. I don’t care how “mad” he was. I don’t care whether or not he “snapped” (and I’m really interested in the definition of the word “snapped” which allows for someone to coolly, calmly set up a video camera and record an eight-minute message for the person they’re lashing out against before destroying their property — and, no, he did not spend “thousands of dollars” upgrading it and it did not belong to him): what he did was an abuse of power; it was violent and it was intimidating and nothing that she said about him on her facebook could justify or excuse it. And you know what else? He stands by it. You’re making excuses for him that he’s not making for himself. So stop. Just stop apologising for this.

Oh, and how do you think he saw the post which he acknowledges he was blocked from seeing without hacking her fb or otherwise invading her privacy?
