deadasdisco:

Get on facebook: Everyone is praising that father who shot his daughter’s laptop.

I’m probably going to get shit from people but I posted: This video about the father shooting the daughter’s laptop makes me incredibly uncomfortable, but not nearly as uncomfortable as the number of people missing the fact that it’s abusive. “Hey I have a gun and will use it to destroy your property that you paid for because I don’t like that you express yourself, however negatively!” Really people? as a status.

I just really don’t understand how people don’t get this? And why you would cheer someone on who is directly using violence to scare his kid into not talking?

Because I will tell you from experience: Parents who get that uptight about their kids complaining about them on facebook generally have a reason to not want the kids to talk.

Do you know how many screaming fits have happened in my house because of this? Because my sister posted something like “I’m never going to be good enough”—which is so vague that no one would even know who she was talking about? And then she gets grounded for weeks and my dad explodes at both of us because “Family stuff does not go on facebook”?

I kept my mouth shut about all the shit going on at my house until I moved out and found a way to express myself without being constantly scared that it would get back to my dad. This kid had a post where she complained about her parents to her *friends* on her locked facebook, and her father hacked her facebook and then violently destroyed her laptop in order to publicly humiliate her and force her to not say anything else about their home life online.

Good parenting is not violently reasserting yourself as dominant and showing your kid that you are not afraid to use a weapon to keep them under your thumb. This fucker should be getting a visit from CPS instead of being praised as a goddamn hero.

Thank you so much for writing this post.
